Deep Song, Wise Woman (words by Vik Bennett)

She's of this world and she is not
More beautiful than the deepest cut
She'll break your heart and heal your pain
Rock you when your worn and drained

She'll warm you when you're cold from fear
Give you strength when night draws near
She knows you as you know your name
Each time you curse her she'll love you the same

She is the Wise One- the one who knows
She understands the way that Life grows
She speaks in tongues before language was known
She's a refugee, she's always home

She builds a wall around her bed,
She plants a forest round her head.
She takes the stars out of the sky
and puts them in her blackened eyes...
And in the quiet of the night
She holds a tiny thread of Light

She's a place of challenge and a place of rest
Nourish all the souls upon her suckled breast
She's old as the Earth and very young
the Forest Hag and the Wild Woman

She is the Wise One- the one who knows
She understands the way that Life grows
She speaks in tongues before language was known
She's a refugee, she's always home

She builds a wall around her bed,
She plants a forest round her head.
She takes the stars out of the sky
and puts them in her blackened eyes...
And in the quiet of the night
She holds a tiny thread of Light
